California Prop 65 Information
Upon receiving your new Mega Motion scooter or lift chair, you may notice the following warning on your product: “This product may contain chemicals which are known to the State of California to cause cancer or birth defects.” Although you may find this concerning, we want to reassure you about the reason for this warning.
In 1986, California passed the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act (commonly known as “Proposition 65”) due to growing concerns about drinking water contamination from toxic chemicals. Since then, California has expanded Proposition 65 significantly in an effort to warn consumers in California about the potential presence of certain chemicals in common consumer products, including food, automobiles and furniture. There are currently over 800 chemicals for which Proposition 65 requires a warning label, and the reportable levels of these chemicals are lower than a hazardous level. Warnings are required even where actual consumer exposure to such chemicals during the use of a product is uncertain, as is the case with Mega Motion products.
Because Proposition 65 requires a warning label on all products shipped to California, and because Mega Motion does not know where each product will ship at the time of production, each Mega Motion product is labeled with a Proposition 65 warning.
While these warnings are important, Mega Motion assures you that every Mega Motion product is made with the highest safety, quality and performance standards in mind. All Mega Motion products comply with applicable U.S. and international safety standards.
As always, Mega Motion thanks you for your business. Your continued trust in the Mega Motion name will allow us to remain an industry leader in safety, quality and performance for many years to come.
